Review of Advanced Reader Copy I received from Pen Pinery.
I have been deep into MM romances lately so I was keen to pick up this rivals to lovers Wrestling romance!
At first the short sentences and the writing style felt too clinical for me to develop strong relationships with our main characters Alex and Daniel; and the POV changing constantly within a chapter was a bit confusing at times to keep up. Also the wrestling terminology went completely over my head the entire time which made it really tricky to picture how the matches went the entire time haha.
As the story progressed and the almost clinical interactions and spicy scenes started to develop into yearning, the rest of the pages fell away as I devoured this book. I really enjoyed the hospital scenes that progressed into the Bathurst stay and how we got to spend some time together.
This book moved quickly and weeks and months went by within a sentence or paragraph at some points so I would’ve liked to see more time spent with the emotions of Daniel and Alex but I enjoyed every minute of the chapters where they got a few days together (Santorini was bloody adorable!).
Overall I did really enjoy this book, and super stoked to see there’s a book two coming! Hopefully we get some more time with them staying together and not just seeing each other every few months!
