This story revolves around Yelana Volkov and Catarina Esposito from Russian and Italian mafia families. To keep piece between the families it has been arranged that Catarina will marry Yelena and live in the Russian family. I liked the story but the way (style) the book was written was different than I had read before and took me longer to read plus it's a long book. The characters are not demonstrative speaking in undertones in the mafia way . I'm not good at reading between the lines so had to re-read areas to get the meaning sometimes. To me, much of the story read like an internalized monolog and setting a scene than direct conversations. I could see Catarina's strength grow and Yelena begin to soften. Also wonder the relevance of Catarina's cross always showing outside her clothes and if her focus on it was because it was given to her by her mother for confirmation. Wish the art cover had transferred with the book like with other sites instead of just having a white page that has kindle on it with book name. Again, I liked the book and recommend it. I will be buying the next two books.
