I really wanted to enjoy this book; the blurb was good and drew me in. There were positives and negatives for me, though.
The overall story was good. There was a mix of characters that I assume we will get to see more of through the series, and the story was new and fresh to me.
The negatives, and unfortunately, there were more of these for me. The writing style was a little odd, lines of dialogue with no additional text (how did he say it? what is he doing? who is saying it?), repetitive lines and phrases, and some phrases that I still don't really understand but assume are part of the culture of the wolves.
I almost didn't finish it, but I am glad I did. The story was worth it if you could get over these things. If you like your books a bit more like a script (there are even scenes within each chapter), then you would probably enjoy this. If, like me, you want to feel fully immersed in the book, it might not hit the feels.
