Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Sniper and the Swan by Halle Macpherson is the ultimate romantic suspense read. If you're constantly torn between picking up a heart-pounding thriller or a high-stakes romance, this book strikes the absolute perfect balance.
Mia is a strong-hearted FMC hiding behind a secret identity and a dangerous past. Despite everything she's survived, she still manages to shine with a bright, resilient spirit. She completely stands her ground against Mateo, a morally grey, intimidating MMC who is equal parts mysterious and fiercely protective of his niece. Mia refuses to back down or accept his money at every turn, creating immediate chemistry and an elite slow-burn dynamic. The subtle use of Italian and his nickname for her were such incredible touches, and the way Macpherson writes about music is just perfection.
It hits all the best tropes: He Falls First, masks & secrets, intense plot tension, and a top-tier "touch her and die" moment. I stayed up way too late several nights in a row because I simply couldn't put it down.
And don't even get me started on the teaser chapter for book two at the end... leaving us on that note is practically a crime! I am now stuck not-so-patiently waiting for the sequel.
A huge thank you to Halle Macpherson for providing an Advanced Reader Copy of this book! All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.
