I will start out by saying that I was given an ARC copy to read and am giving my own opinion.
This book had me laughing and awing at the same time! The relationship between Harlow (the FMC) and Jake (the MMC) is so sweet, especially once you find out just how long Jake has been in love with her! However, my favorite parts of the story were the neighbors and Kevin the tactical peacock! Yes, you read that correctly there’s a peacock named Kevin and he is in charge of the tactical peacock unit and every time he showed up, I was laughing and cheering! It’s even better when you realize that (even though this world is magical) Mrs. Henderson (who happens to own Kevin) is the one translating for him and telling him how to command the forces! And Kevin and his team actually do the formations perfectly with Mrs. Henderson even directing them like ground control does with airplanes! Don’t get me wrong, I still loved Harlow, Jake, and the Victorian mansion, but Kevin steals the show in my opinion!
Another character who steals the show is the Victorian house. While homicidal in the beginning (the amount of times it tried to kill Harlow was ludicrous), it slowly started accepting Harlow as its new resident and even started missing her when she was gone!
Jake and Harlow have a beautiful and relatively strong relationship. Jake goes through some stuff at one point and it was awesome seeing Harlow helping him every step of the way! And Jake helps Harlow out in the same way, especially with trying to get over her terrible ex.
I loved this book and would absolutely recommend it! The neighbors have no boundaries, there are homicidal houses, and tactical peacocks! What’s not to love?!
Thank you so much to Dani Skye and her team for letting me read the book! I really enjoyed it and appreciate the opportunity!

This is such a fantastic and sweet book about finding home and I loved every minute that I was reading it. The story is sweet enough to give you diabetes and the tension between the characters is thick enough that you can cut it with a knife. The relationship between Billie and Darcy is phenomenal and it’s one of my favorite parts of the story. Cristina (the author) does a brilliant job of allowing the characters to not only work out whatever differences they have, but also fleshes out their relationship enough to make it feel real.
You would expect that, with the MCs named Elizabeth and Darcy, that the story would be a Pride and Prejudice spin off, but I was pleasantly surprised when I realized that it wasn’t! The story focuses more on the meaning of home than judging each other from where you’re from, and I think I prefer that.
I absolutely enjoyed reading this story and would definitely recommend it!

I loved reading this story and enjoyed the time that I spent reading it! It was so sweet, funny, and had me feeling all the feels!
What starts as a simple misunderstanding quickly becomes something much bigger than either Elizabeth (the FMC) or Evan (the MMC) thought it would be, and, eventually, evolving into a beautiful relationship between the two. Evan and Elizabeth have a lot of trauma to work through, and one of my favorite parts of the story was being able to watch the two characters work through their respective traumas together. Not only did I absolutely love watching the characters evolve as people, but it made them feel so real and relatable, almost like they were about to walk off the page.
One of the more interesting things to read about was how Evan did not take his meet-cute with Elizabeth well at all. In his defense, Elizabeth originally pretended to be someone else, but she literally fesses up to it 5 minutes in and he misunderstood it. This made things really interesting, as it ends up bringing up some other trauma from his past to the surface.
Evan and Elizabeth have such a fantastic relationship, and it was so much fun watching the two of them fight their attractions for each other before finally giving in to it.
I absolutely loved this story and would recommend it!
Thank you so much to Mary Anne Marlowe and her team for letting me read the book! I loved it and appreciate the opportunity!
