This book held my interest and keep me wanting the turn the pages. I loved Laya's character and storyline. A few of the twists and turns completely surprised me, and I did enjoy the connection and dialogue between Laya and Kaeldric. The book was good enough that my one nagging annoyance with this novel didn't stop me from turning pages. **Spoilers** I would have really like it if Kaeldric contributed and had a voice more. I understand how and why he struggled to do that with the mate bond dynamic, but while I am definitely woman power, I feel he should have been able to save the day some and have more of a voice in the decisions rather than just always asking her what her choice was. I felt like his biggest strength was just supporting her by constantly asking her what she wanted. She was definitely the more interesting character of the two because of it. I did want to keep reading and I want to read the next book, but the whole novel I was annoyed at the same time. It's a five star read because I still couldn't put it down.
