There's nothing like a fire captain and a damsel in distress to really heat up the page. We have Jake Bower, long time fellow crusher for years towards one Harlow Green finally seeing hope at the end of the tunnel so to speak. Then we have the girl that got away, Harlow Green, coming back to the hometown she dreads coming back. Everything in her knows people have talked about her and know about her marriage yet Jake is the one person that is really real with her. Being with him she is starting to see that no all men are like her ex and in some way she is starting to feel something again. Now Dani Skye really shows us a side of Harlow nobody has really seen and even Jake is impressed by her determination to really get into the life she wants. Jake, however, seemed to me a little scared and by all means he has good reasons. As a firefighter he has seen things no one should see yet when it comes to Harlow he is scared of really the what ifs. More of what if he can't be there for her when she needs him. Like all stories that involve firefighters Jake is one man that sure needs all the help he can. I love seeing that he is so organized when it comes to his love life but when it comes to him admitting his vulnerability and real feels about people he rescues well he definitely needs help. All in all it was okay but felt it was more about Harlowe, yes what she went through in her marriage is not easy but felt there could have been more about Jake as well. This is the beginning of a new series by Dani Skye and definitely can see this town more and it's people especially that Victorian mansion and it's wicked way.
