I've always believed love is the most interesting problem in fiction, not the moment two people fall for each other, but everything standing in the way of admitting it. I write slow-burn romance because I think restraint is more romantic than declaration; the eight chapters before the kiss matter more than the kiss itself. When I'm not writing, I'm re-reading Austen for the hundredth time, always finding a new line I underlined and forgot about.
