This collection of stories made for some really nice bite-sized reads between reads. It gives glimpses of various goddesses outside their typical settings. Each short story had very relatable situations and hidden lessons to take away from them. For example, the Kuan Yin story is a reminder that it costs nothing to put a little effort into giving someone value they cannot give themselves.
Some of the stories in this compilation read in a little bit of a 'fragmented thought' format which isn't necessarily a bad thing! It felt REAL, like being inside the characters' heads throughout their thought processes. It made the storytelling itself relatable.
Artemis and the Cats was my personal favorite!! Penelope certainly wasn't expecting that chain of events on her hike with Dally! But then I suppose we often find things we weren't even looking for in the most unexpected of places, don't we?
It gives me great pleasure to give this collection of goddess stories five mythic stars!
Ravenheart Rating: 10/10
Favored by the Goddess is a beautiful collection of goddess retellings that gives new life to old myths. Each story reimagines powerful female figures in modern settings. Each story highlights their strength, flaws, and humanity.
The writing flows smoothly from one tale to the next, making it easy to stay hooked. Some stories feel epic, others quiet and emotional, but they all share a theme of reclaiming power and identity. It’s empowering, magical, and full of heart.
If you love mythology, strong female leads, or stories that mix old legends with modern energy, this one’s a must-read. It’s myth and magic with a fresh spark.
R.S. Kellogg delivers a divine mix of fantasy, danger, and heart-racing passion in Favored by the Goddesses. The world-building is lush and immersive, but what really had me hooked was the slow-burn tension that finally explodes into sizzling, goddess-blessed steam. The heroine is fierce and independent, and her chemistry with the love interest is pure fire — intense, magnetic, and deliciously slow to ignite until it blazes.
The romance is perfectly balanced with action, magic, and emotional depth, giving you all the angst, all the pining, and all the payoff you could want. By the time they finally give in, you’ll be fanning yourself. 🔥
If you’re hunting for a spicy romantasy full of powerful women, divine meddling, and a love story that feels written in the stars, this is an absolute must-read.
