Mortal Love is a compelling dark romantasy that breathes fresh life into the genre through its grounded, thirty-something protagonist. Delilah’s journey provides an emotional weight. While the writing needed more polish and a few plot developments felt forced to drive the tension, the overall experience remained enjoyable.
The worldbuilding was done well. Certain concepts like the Law of Flesh remained confusing, and there are noticeable plot holes. Some romantic reactions felt slightly exaggerated for a mature heroine, yet the central mystery of Delilah’s survival kept me turning the pages. It is a 3.5 star read for anyone seeking a mature lead in a dark, atmospheric setting.

The Dawn of Peace opens with a lot of telling and backstory, which drags the early chapters and keeps the tension low. Once the exposition clears, the story settles into a smoother pace, it becomes much more engaging. It wasn’t an unputdownable book for me, but it was a quick, enjoyable read that gets better as it goes.
