Charming

Fun and easy read. Some of the conversations felt contrived, but the tone fit the character in some of the situations. I liked that there was some spice, but it wasn't over the top or graphic - it was the perfect amount for the overall feel of the story. I'm looking forward to reading book #2. Sammy and Love Shy
(3 )
Another fun read from Lisa! Andie and Quill have quirky, fun, and adorable banter! The story itself was predictable, but in an endearing way. Sometimes you just want an easy read that has unique characters and that's what this book provides! I received an ARC copy of this book from PenPinery in exchange for an honest review. |

The characters were immediately endearing, and the reality TV angle was a good way to mix up the conflicts. Drew's unapologetic, unwavering love for Hannah is a refreshing change from the MMC's who are typically in denial about their feelings until the moment when they can get the FMC naked. Hannah's a realistic character who is relatable in most meaningful ways. I think the complications at the end of the book, where she opened up to Drew, could have been addressed a little earlier to explain her hesitancy, because most of the book, there was no indication other than him going off to play in the NFL and her being jealous of other women. Which is so far away from the real problem that it felt out of nowhere, and Drew's reaction to it felt lacklustre because of how in love he is with her, compared to the seriousness of the situation. The reality-TV aspect of the story was effective at creating realistic drama. I didn't like that there was no repercussion for the non-con situations. Overall, it was a quick, easy read with a nice variety of spice, conflict, resolution, and quirkiness. PS: Skylar sucks. Twin Twists

Another enjoyable read by Lisa :) The characters were all entirely different personalities, and the opposites-attract moments felt genuine between Danielle and Ethan. I had a little bit of a hard time starting because I was confused about whose POV I was reading at the start and had to mind-map the story until I caught on to who was doing what and where with who, but once I got everything sorted, I got into the groove of the dual narratives. I think it would've been helpful at the start of each 'switch' to have a header indicating the story was flipping to Mallory or Danielle. That's a personal preference though. The ending was cute and funny. I look forward to reading more of Lisa's books! I received this ARC through Pen Pinery, and I am offering my review voluntarily. |
