Being from Nova Scotia, I really wanted to read this book, and was ecstatic when I got an ARC copy from Pen Pinery.

I instantly fell in love with the two main characters, spending my time totally relating to Billie and wanting to be her. The author, Cristina Santos, did a great job in making the reader feel the emotions of the characters right from the beginning, if Billie cringed, so did I.

I felt multiple emotions as I read through the book and I was just so happy to be rooting for non-perfect people. By writing the characters as she did, Santos made it that much easier to relate to both Billie and Darcy.

It was neat to see some things in the book that are strictly Nova Scotian, and I even learned a couple of things as well. Sometimes we forget that sayings and such are regional and I think everyone knows them.

Even though this was Book 2 in the Balsam Bay series, I didn't feel lost. Saying that, I plan to go purchase Book 1 and pre-order this book, as I enjoyed the world so much. I would also like to go and read Santos' other books as well, as I believe I have found a new favourite author.
