About This Romance ARC

Sam is so comfortable around Kalie because there is no way she's into him… Sam is wrong.
Kalie left the west coast a year ago after a viral video blew up her whole life. She’s done wallowing and trying to take baby steps towards rebuilding herself.
Sam was dumped by his girlfriend of five years. He's now that guy you know who talks about his ex way too often. As a chubby retail clerk nearing 30, trying to meet someone romantically seems futile.
Kalie meets Sam at a New Year's party and settles for friends after a failed hook up attempt. Kalie can’t tell her new friends about her past; she has to at least pretend to be a sane person. Sam does whatever he can think of to conceal his growing crush.
However, unbeknownst to Sam, his new friend, Kalie, is still trying her level best to bang the chubby retail clerk.

I gave this a door because I laughed way too hard at this lunacy. Kalie was a doll. I loved how hard she tried with Sam. This man 🤦🏽‍♀️ let me tell you…it was painful reading this because of how dense this man was. I mean, I get it. Sam just got dumped by his girlfriend of five years, he’s almost thirty, and he’s chubby…so what, I’ve seen worse and women throw themselves at men like that. Kinda like Kallie is doing. And our oblivious Sam is too dense to notice. Dude needs to wake tf up. I kept going because I had to know when, if ever, he was going to pull his head out of his rear and. I mean this girl could’ve walked down the street naked, with a big sign that said, “Sam, I want to :!$;().” And he still wouldn’t catch a clue. But again, this was hair pulling funny. And I had a great time reading it. Minus the few brain cells that died with this one.

As a plus-size reader, it was a delight to see a book cover featuring a plus-size character (and the MMC, no less!). I was hesitant going in, knowing so many portrayals miss the mark, but Vanilla (with Sprinkles) surprised me.

Kalie and Sam's journey was frustrating (in the best ways) and fun. I tore through it.

I only have a few *very* minor nitpicks. A couple of word-form errors ("cannon" instead of "canon," "peck" instead of "pec," "Kallie" instead of "Kalie") pulled me out briefly now and then. And while the author included a disclaimer about body descriptions and fatphobia, a few word choices still made me cringe. That may be just a "me" thing, and every plus-size reader will have their own opinion.

Overall, though, this was a good read. If you like plus-size rep and messy MCs, this one's worth grabbing!
