For those new here: Two Gatherers is the second novella in the Ravenous Mother series, set in the Motherverse — a dark fantasy biopunk world where humanity lives inside a titanic biological organism called the Mother. No stone, no metal. Just flesh, membrane, and cartilage.
In the Sac, Gatherers do the work nobody else wants: extracting food from the Greater Membrane, crawling through narrow organic tunnels, risking their lives for scraps. They're not heroes. They're not chosen ones. They're just trying to survive until the Selection takes them at 40.
This story is about what happens when two of them decide that "surviving" isn't enough anymore.
