Visitor's Day

It's the ten-year anniversary of his mother's death and Daniel is looking forward to seeing her again. Living relatives and close friends are allowed to visit the dead once a year in their immersive virtual world. The Church of the Eternal Upload limits the visits to allow the dead to live their 'lives' and the living to move forward without having to constantly visit their ancestors.

This year Daniel's mother has some surprising and troubling news for her son.

Visitor's Day is a short story set in the same world as the Ada Trilogy (Booting Ada, Breaking Ada and Blessing Ada). Set about ten years after the arrival of sentient AIs.

This short story will appear as part of the short story collection Floppsy the Immortal and other Tales from the Vorld. That will be published around October 2024 after Blessing Ada.
