I was interested in reading this book because, when was the last time I read anything that involved circus magic and had shifters who were dragons and fae? I was able to receive an Advance Readers Copy and I am super excited to share my honest opinions voluntarily.

Also…Cairos anyone? 😉. If you are into dark Romantasy, this one is definitely for you! Like always, please check your triggers before reading.

Let me back up a bit. Our FMC, Naevyn, is pulled into a centuries old conflict when the King’s circus arrives to her village. She’s expected to be the answer to ending the King’s reign. Naevyn on the other hand insists she’s nothing but a miner; however, her blood says otherwise. Naevyn is a part of a long told prophecy, and therefore a part of the conflict. Enter our MMC, Cairos, who’s as murderously morally grey as they come. Emphasis on the murder. Cairos has been going around and unaliving people for centuries and gets himself ensnared into joining Naevyn on her quest of self discovery and taking out the king. If you enjoy the forced proximity trope, this one is for you. The problem between them? Naevyn finds him unbearable cocky and arrogant; yet she’s deeply attracted to him. Throw in a little bit of that spicy enemies to lovers and you have yourself a beautifully dark read.

I thoroughly enjoyed the book, it held my attention all the way through. I literally finished it in a day!! The plot, the romance, banter, and chemistry between the characters was chief’s kiss. I would also like to mention that the ending isn’t a cliff hanger that will have you in an emotional chokehold until the next book comes out. It gives a nice to be continued vibe, that still leaves you wanting more, but doesn’t consume you.
