As we settle into the new year, we wanted to outline our 2024 goals. The first year as a writing platform has been an interesting journey, marked by a lot of pivoting, trials and errors, and a learning process. We are incredibly grateful for the 40+ authors who joined us in the first 7 months and the nearly 75 publications added to the site.
We've observed that zines, absurdism, Sci-Fi, and general fiction are becoming the fastest-growing genres of books during this time. However, we've noticed one major flaw. People join Pen Pinery, dump their backlog catalog, and never return. To address this issue, we are pivoting Pen Pinery to bring daily value to writers and authors. This begins by creating a dedicated platform for authors with tools to build a successful writing journey.
Every author deserves to have their own space on the internet to express themselves and build a community. Blogs are the corner stone of a worthwhile internet but there has never been a blogging platform dedicated to the success of the author.
Currently, Pen Pinery provides tools to share published works, track writing progress (NaNoWriMo-style), and a customize blogging profile.
In 2024 we are focusing on three major projects:
1. Author-managed newsletters for announcing new publications and blog posts.
2. Community online events (via Zoom), such as writing hours, plot sharing, or book pitching.
3. Reaching 1000 author accounts by the end of the year
We look forward to another year together of productive writing, new published books, and community support. Thanks for being part of a new grassroots writing platform.
